STUDENTS OF RAVENSBOURNE
I have set up this section in the hope that you will add your input in what ever form that may take. Simply click "comments" at the bottom of this post and have your say.
It could be aspects you like about Rave as it is, or things that you don't. Things you might feel are missing or items that would make it better for you. They might be physical, they might be virtual, they might be within the philosophy of the college.
Just click "comments" and you can sign it Anon if you wish.
Thanks for your time.

hi, ravensbourne to me has good and bad points. the good points are that its a well chilled environment and it allows students to choose their study place. the bad point is that the college is too focused on broadcasting.
the college as a whole is a fantastic environment to be involved with, i have never been so welcomed in the college, having said that it has some weak points e.g the student union bar could be way much better but at first glimpse marvelous
i look forward to the move, in the near future which
will be good for the college and students, this will bring them closer to the city of london and attract
more student ....
The college is good, perhaps though the location is a *little* suburban. I agree with what anonymous said up there about the student union bar could be a lot better. There aren't that many places to unwind and mix with different people on different courses. Also the Smoking Sheds are a complete piss-take, they leave me fuming (ha ha).
One of the reasons why I chose to come to Ravensbourne rather than go to a university is that it has a personal feel to it. I'm afraid that by taking it closer to London it will lose this and become just like the rest of London unpersonal and selfish.
Ravenbourne's Location first court my eye! As well as the work that has been produced here.
I think the move is a really bad idea, students come here to study and enjoy the hard working atmosphere.
What makes Ravensbourne stand out from the rest is that it has its own way of working, I deafinally think my style of working here has been for the better, there are no distractions. We also have the luxery of being 20 minutes away from London by train, and we are safe in the knowledge that we are in a well stort after place to live. Ok; Chislehurst is'nt very cool, but conpaired to some places to live I think, we are very lucky.
i think ravensbourne where it is in chislehurst is fantastic. just something to consider when moving and allocating space please make sure that there are enough computer rooms and computers which have the right programs on them as this is a problem especially if only two rooms have the software you need and they are constantly booked up all year. i know many people have laptops and macs now but some don't so its just one little thing to considerespecially as the college is becommong more technically advanced and the demand for computers is increasing by the incresed number of students enrolling each year.
I am pleased that Rave are moving towards London, it will help the Greenwich area to regenerate. I think that Greenwhich will be a very interesting area in a few years time. I agree on the fact that Ravensbourne should practice what it preaches, therefore, the building is very important in terms of energy and flexibility. It is now time for Ravensbourne to take the oppurtunity to make a statement towards the rest of Europe and the world to show that it is a unique and cutting-edge design college. And well yes, focus more on the other design courses rather than broadcasting..
The new building does look quite cool. It fits with many modern designs, and it would be quite cool to go to somewhere like that. The current site isn't overly pretty, but it could be made to look far better with a bit of love and money..
However this still isn't an important stage in the proceedings - the quality of learning is the most important aspect of any educational place, and my concern is that ravensbourne is currently lacking this quality.
Having looked at the photo on the http://www.danread.net/rave2012 page of the new college "design" (War Survivors Tribute?)
I find the "new building" design reminds me of the images of the broken and burnt out buildings in London after the Blitz... What a waste of 50% of the new buildings cost...
The current site and building is much prettier :o)
***NOTE***
I have been told that the information by Fiona stating that the building tiles will cost half the price of the new building is infact an exageration. I need to amend this on the post, and the correct percentage will be posted when I find it.

What's with the retail? Who in their right mind will have a shop there? Is it so that the college don't have to have a college shop and students will have to go into
central London to buy a mini disk? I suppose it wouldn't be any different to what it is now then, hey?
Yea rave has a few bad points and good points! Sometimes there is a huge amount of 'red tape' when you want ideas to be done (i mean surely as students we're paying for the teacher's and support staff's salary, so shouldn't they be a bit helpful back?) and sometimes places like the SU become corrupt (where some people pay themselves two salaries) and sometimes you just get annoyed that some resources aren't around and if they are around, someone's controlling them who won't let you use them, no matter how hard you try! The best advise: rely on yourself! I don't think much of this will change for new Rave. The staff here need to know and understand that they're here to help us and not close things down or control us and such! Look at McGregor's theory (wikipedia-it or click here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_X_and_theory_Y); stop being a X person and become a Y person!
i fink de college iz cool were it is, don fink it shud move coz da ppl r way cool here and i luv da atmoz, itz chilld out! in london it wud be way buzy and no fun
long liv da colleg!
I guess that the move to Greenwhich its the best that could happen to Ravensbourne, as a lot of money will be made out of property development in the current site, courses will acomodate more students (= more $$), and 'MOODLE' will be enfroced to students to learn from (meaning, no need for many tutors around, seen you can learn from a computer..). This is the best in financial terms.
Hello? is there anyone thinking of whats the EDUCATION delievery possible for students?
I am glad i will not be around to see this sudden death of what we know Ravensbourne 'experience' to be (not saiing its perfect, but considering how worst it could be.. its great), but i will certainly be deeply sad to look back and realise that its dead.
But hey.. life carries on, and how much does our opinion count, when there are such financial ambitions, breathing our pure air?
Anyway, leave you with my thoughts, and wish the best of luck to Mr. Robin Baker with your BUSINESS. :)
