Anomalous applies traditional elements of time and space to an abstract concept that we interact with every day, our news and information. It is an experimental project that looks at more representational, and spatially enhanced ways of receiving our everyday news.

Using several aspects of the data in conjunction with the parameters of the user, it displays stories from the BBC represented in a way that can be viewed on many levels.

It transforms the one dimensional information into a cosmos of representational features. Using parameters of the stories such as time of release and their age, relevance to the users interests and relevance to the users geographical position, the stories are given strengths, colours and locations within the space.

The project is not designed to be a functional tool, but more a alternate representation of information we take for granted everyday, that we perceive with very little context of time, space or personal relevance.

There are elements of the application that are currently fabricated, such as the geographical placement. At present, the BBC do not geotag their news feeds as standard. It is something that could soon be incorporated and would open up a wide range of possible applications. The personal relevance could be applpied to the users blog, or using plug-ins within browsers; a record of a users web habits and routes.
